Denise Reball-Barry, 66, of Howard, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA after a very long and difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on June 22, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Calvano) DeBello and sister of Carmella Kelly and Maria DeBello, both of Long Island, NY.
After approximately 20 years of service at Newsday, the local Long Island newspaper, Denise retired. A few years after retirement she met the love of her life, Michael J. Barry, who survives at home. Denise and Mike spent 19 years together. They were finally married in Bellefonte, PA on August 22, 2016. The happy couple loved spending their time together taking long drives in the car and seeing the beautiful scenery. They especially enjoyed visiting family across Pennsylvania, in Idaho and on Long Island.
Denise was an avid gardener with an exquisite garden in her backyard which was home to gorgeous flowers and bushes, hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and chipmunks. She also loved and collected rare cookbooks, amassing one of the most comprehensive collections around.
Denise was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.
In addition to her husband and her two sisters, Denise is survived by her two children, John Secreto (Robyn) and Michele Butikofer (Jason) and three step-children, Julie Esposito (Joe), Michael Barry, Jr. (Adriana) and Molly Barry, along with 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
