Obituary for Dick Armand Cable

Dick Armand Cable, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at AristaCare at Hearthside in State College. Born in Millheim, on March 22, 1929, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Hazel (Ripka) Cable. On October 25, 1953, in Millheim, he married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Guisewite) Cable, who survives after sharing 65 years of marriage together.

Dick was a graduate of East Penns Valley High School. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent from 1948 to 1952. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Japp Occ. Medal. After the military, he worked for ML Clasters; most recently, he worked as a tool and die designer for Cerro Copper and Brass for 38 years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Terry (Karen), of State College, Todd, of State College, Tim, of State College, and Tom (Sharon), of Bellefonte; eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Jeanie Stover.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Pam A. Cox and Cherry Lou Cable.

Dick was a life member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, skier and bowler. He enjoyed playing golf and loved the outdoors. He was very charitable with the family, church and community. When his sons were younger, he could be found volunteering with their little league teams. He was also a life member of BPOE Elks Lodge #1094 in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a member of the Tussey Mountain Ski Club as well as being in the Seven Mountains Bowling Hall of Fame.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 12pm-1pm at St. John Lutheran Church at 216 McAllister Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm at the church with Rev. Will Osman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to St. John Lutheran Church at 216 McAllister Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
