Obituary for Agnes Louise Jabco

Agnes Louise Jabco, 94, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Monday, October 31, 2022. Born on November 28, 1927, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Walsh P. and Frances Benzie. In October 1946, she married her beloved husband, Mickey Jabco, who preceded her in death on February 22, 2020, after sharing over 73 years of marriage.

Agnes attended Bellefonte Area School District.  While in school, she worked at the potato chip factory in Bellefonte; and, during WWII, at Sylvania in Mill Hall. She dedicated her life to raising her family and taking care of her home – a job that she was proud to do.

She is survived by her five children, Dennis "Buck" Jabco (Sharon), of Bellefonte, Scott Jabco (Debbie), of Bellefonte, Debra Quick, of Snow Shoe, Carla Jabco, of Howard, and Susan Sand, of Bellefonte; six grandchildren, Matthew Jabco, of San Francisco, Michael Jabco, of Bellefonte, Emily Jabco, of New York City,  Nicholas Jabco, of Annapolis, Md., Jamie Quick, of Howard, and Craig Montarsi (Holly), of Pleasant Gap; and two great-grandchildren, Izabel and Gabriel Montarsi; and her longtime caregiver and companion, Evelyn King-Bosso, whom she thought of as one of her own grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Pauline Cummings, of Clearfield (formerly of Long Island, N.Y.).

Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Michael and Joseph; and sisters, Anastasia, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann, and Catherine.

Agnes was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. She enjoyed flower gardening and looked forward to going on 10 mile walks with her sister-in-law, Katy. She loved the holidays and spending them with her family. She loved decorating, especially at Christmas. At least three days before any holiday, she would be baking pies (which were both delicious and beautiful) and desserts from sunup until 3:00 a.m. Above all else, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world; she cherished times spent with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church,  134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., of Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, 116 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to UPMC Hospice and their compassionate care that was provided to their mom in her time of need.
