Obituary for Alice Marie Fitch
Alice Marie Fitch, 79, of State College, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on January 7, 1944, in San Rafael, California, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Alice (Soldavini) Saporetti. In 1963, she married her beloved husband, Robert Forest Fitch, who preceded her in death in 2014, after sharing over 51 years of marriage together.
Alice was a graduate of Sir Frances Drake High School in San Anselmo, California. She worked as a Social Worker until her retirement.
She is survived by her niece, Lisa Brunner-Saporetti.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Alfred, Luis, and Eugene Saporetti.
Alice was a radiant spirit who found joy and pleasure in just about every moment. She loved being with her many, many friends, sharing meals and a glass of wine, and enjoying her beautiful gardens. She relished music, theater, art, literature, and performances of all kinds. She loved to dance. As a long-time social worker, Alice was a tireless, loving advocate for people with disabilities and life challenges. She and her husband Bob took troubled teens into their home and provided care, guidance, and acceptance. Throughout her life, every child and animal in the neighborhood gravitated to her door. Alice and her adored “Fitchie” traveled all over the world, finding the good and the beautiful in just about everyone they met. Alice’s bright light and love will live on in all of us whose lives she touched.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
