Obituary for Andrew N. Dorman

Andrew N. Dorman, 81, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Born on May 8, 1940, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Calvin and Hazel (Buchanan) Dorman. On September 8, 1962, he married his beloved wife, Cynthia D. (Gandy) Dorman, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2021, after sharing over 58 years of marriage together.

Nevin worked as a laborer for Cerro Copper and Brass for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. While working for Cerro, he also worked for Country Cable with his brother.

He is survived by his four children, Theresa Ann Fields (Dennis) of Warriors Mark, Faith M. Krout (Richard) of Millheim, James K. Dorman (Carmen) of Zion, and Susan D. Dorman (Calvin L. Laughard) of Bellefonte; six grandchildren, Debra, James, Chelsea, Mickala, Isaac, and Michael, and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Lee Dorman (Joann), and Ed Dorman, both of Pleasant Gap, and a sister, Mabel Probst of Beech Creek.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Buchanan, and two sisters, Virginia Fetters and Judy Shuey.

Nevin spent many weekends over the years at softball fields around the Centre County area where he would umpire games. He enjoyed just about anything that would keep him outdoors – especially, hunting, fishing, working in his garden, going to the races with his brother, Ed, working nearly every Wednesday and Saturday morning at the Bellefonte Farmers Market for Gary Horner, and camping with the family at Hidden Valley. Nevin loved going to the sporting events that his grandkids were playing in. He was always there in front cheering them on!

There will be a public graveside service held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Korn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
