Obituary for Brian A. Wentzel

Brian A. Wentzel, 56, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on May 30, 1965, in Bellefonte, he was the son of Earl “Gov” Nathan Yearick, Margery Ann (Novosel) Bradley, and his adopted father, Ronnie Wentzel, who are all surviving in Centre Hall, Pleasant Gap, and Bellefonte, respectively.

Brian was a 1984 graduate of Bellefonte High School. From 1984 until 1985, he served in the United States Army. For his time in the service, his decorations included the Army Service Ribbon, Expert Rifle M16 Qualification Badge, and the Expert Hand Grenade Qualification Badge. He worked as a laborer for Spectra Wood for 18 years.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Ronald Wentzel of Bellefonte, a stepbrother, Jody Yearick of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and numerous aunts and uncles. Also surviving are two nephews, Cody Wentzel and Andrew Cohen, and a niece, Adrianna Cohen.

He was preceded in death by three uncles, C. John Novosel, Robert Novosel, and Fred Yearick.

Brian was of the Protestant faith and a devout Christian. He enjoyed being outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and woodworking. Brian was a true “people person.” His family and friends will remember his kind heart and treasure all the memories that were made over the years.

There will be a public viewing held on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 9-11 a.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
