Obituary for Dale F. Rhoads

Dale F. Rhoads, 94, of Altoona, formerly of Bellefonte passed away at Hillview Rehabilitation Center in Altoona. Born on June 10, 1928, in Coleville, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Madeline (Downing) Rhoads. He was married to his beloved wife, Phyllis (Bryan) Rhoads, who preceded him in death after sharing over 72 years of marriage together.

After school, Dale proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1951. He served on the U.S.S. Putnam. After his time in the service, he went to work for Titan Metal Manufacturing until his retirement after 48 years of employment.

He is survived by his youngest son, Bryan Rhoads (Denise), two grandchildren, Cameron and Cassandra Rhoads, one great granddaughter, Destiny Rhoads, and daughter-in-law, Donna Rhoads. Also surviving is a sister, Alma Robinson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his oldest son, Timothy A. Rhoads, six sisters, and four brothers.

Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, and golfer, and he loved bowling. He loved to spend time in his garden and took great pride in being able to share the bounty with his family and friends.

At Dale’s request, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s memory to Hillview Rehabilitation Center, 700 S. Cayuga Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, or to Kindred Hospice, 1701 12th Avenue, Building D, Altoona, PA 16601. The loving care by the wonderful people at these facilities will never be forgotten, and the family will treasure them always.
