Obituary for Darlene E. Strouse
Darlene E. Strouse, 77, of State College, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on June 12, 1944, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Grace (Walls) Colbert. On June 17, 1991, she married her beloved husband, Clayton Strouse, who preceded her in death in 2007, after sharing 16 years of marriage together.
Darlene attended Bellefonte Area School District.
She is survived by her six children, Janice Sine (John) of Yorktown, VA, Douglas Parkes (Sara) of Bigler, PA, Michael Parkes (Kari) of Philipsburg, Michelle Emeigh (Jeff) of State College, Lisa Parkes (Doug) of Penns Creek, and Loretta Parkes (Allen) of Julian, 18 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Anamay Smoyer, of Runville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Philip Parkes, Jr., and a stepson, Clayton Strouse, Jr.
Darlene enjoyed playing card and board games and sitting outside bird watching. More than anything, she treasured the time that she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves behind countless memories that her loved ones will forever cherish.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
