Obituary for David L. Mierley

David L. Mierley, 71, of Bellefonte, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 4, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 8, 1950, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Paul and Rheda (Pope) Mierley. On April 5, 1996, he married the love of his life, Angela (Hoover) Mierley, who survives at home after sharing 26 years of marriage together. Together they shared five children.

David was a 1968 graduate of State College High School, where he excelled on the basketball court. He served in the United States Army Reserves. The majority of his professional career was spent working in the automotive industry. He served as both General Manager and Dealer Principal with his family’s auto dealerships in the Altoona and State College areas for over 25 years.

In addition to his wife, Angela, he is survived by their four daughters, Marisa Benner (Brian) of Frankford, Delaware, Marin Mierley of Hollidaysburg, Amber Thomas (Dustin) of Centre Hall, and Kayla Ickes of Bellefonte, and a son, Matthew Mierley of Hollidaysburg, and nine grandchildren: Samuelle Mierley, Mason Mierley, Peyton Thomas, Reece Thomas, Lilliana Goshorn, Madison Goshorn, Harrison Benner, Hayden Benner, and Parker Snook. Also surviving is a sister, Sue Montgomery (Rob) of South Carolina.

David was a member of the American Legion Post #150 in Petersburg. He enjoyed watching sports and doing home improvements. He also loved to be outdoors, especially spending time at his camp, Camp Paradise, hunting and fishing.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
