Obituary for Dean W. Korman Sr.

Dean W. Korman, Sr., 81, of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Embassy of Hearthside in State College. Born on April 2, 1941, in State College, he was the son of the late Charles Roy and Myra (Gummo) Korman. On August 16, 1960, he married his beloved wife, Sarah J. (Bower) Korman, who preceded him in death on August 14, 2020, after sharing nearly 60 years of marriage together.

Dean attended school at Bellefonte Area High School. He was employed as a Maintenance Engineer for Shaner Hotel Group for 20 years.

He is survived by his four grandchildren, Heather Fields (Jeff) of Port Matilda, and Kevin Korman (Brandi) of Bellefonte, Blanca Rincon, and Ruby Rincon, both of Bellefonte and five great-grandchildren, Riley, Grayson, Raylan, Lilly, and Delilah.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Dean “Bo” W. Korman, Jr., on August 5, 2018, and two brothers, Bob and George Korman.

Dean always took time to appreciate the little things in life. He enjoyed sitting outside on his porch, whether he was by himself or with his family, he had a smile on his face. He also looked forward to getting out on his motorcycle, going alone and sometimes bringing Sarah, and taking a ride alongside his late son, Bo. He especially treasured the times that he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Dean will be laid to rest beside his wife and son, in Centre County Memorial Park in State College, in the private ceremony for his family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
