Obituary for Dolores B. Woodring

Dolores B. Woodring, 84, of Bellefonte passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 14, 1938, in Bellefonte, to the late Forest L. and Adeline (Brooks) Benford. On January 27, 2001, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, David Huey Woodring.
Dolores was a 1956 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. While in high school she worked at G.C. Murphy and Woodring’s Floral Gardens. After graduation, she attended nurses training at Altoona Hospital. After marriage her plans changed and she, along with her husband Dave, took ownership of Woodring’s Floral Gardens where she worked until her retirement in 2002. She was affectionately referred to by her friends and family as the “crazy cat lady.”

Dolores is survived by her son, David H. Woodring of Potters Mills, her brother, Timothy Benford (Patricia) of Centre Hall, and their son, Timmy. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Erica, Joseph, Aaron, Ethan, Colin, Nate, Becka, Ashleigh, Corby, and Lily, seven great grandchildren, son in law, Larry Cleaver, daughter in law, Tammy Woodring, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her three beloved daughters, Kristina W. Cleaver, Stephanie B. Woodring, Holly W. Turner, and one brother, Forest L. Benford, Jr.

There will be a public viewing held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 3-4pm, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Union Cemetery, Bellefonte.
