Donald “Donnie” R. Hyde, 84, of Bellefonte, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at home. He was born on March 14, 1936 in Williamsport, PA; a son of Ralph C. Hyde and Beatrice L. (Roupp) Hyde.

Donnie worked as a draftsman at Nuclide, State College, most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping or working alongside his close friends.

He attended Bellefonte High School and joined the United States Marine Corp in April of 1953 where he served for three years, a year of his service was in Korea. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He later transferred to the Marine Corp Reserve and was honorably discharged in March 1961.

Donnie was a member of the Bellefonte American Legion and a Life Member of the Undine Fire Company No. 2. He was instrumental in helping the Undine Fire Company at Lambert Field and Hyde Park, Bellefonte.

Donnie was cantankerous in nature but was always available to help a friend.

He is survived by his close friend, Janice Watson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Hyde.

At Donnie’s request, there will be no funeral services held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donnie’s memory to the Undine Fire Company #2, 133 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.

Will miss you old buddy, always great catching up on things around the undines when we met. Can still see you working along side of the other undine members who helped build the Bingo shed aka now Lambert Hall years my friend
