Edward Theodore Witherite, 66, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on September 3, 1956, in Bellefonte, he was the son of Robert Witherite, Sr., of Lock Haven, and the late Viney Janeen “June” (Bubb) Witherite. On September 22, 1982, he married the love of his life, Mary (Comarnitsky) Witherite, who survives at home after sharing nearly 41 years of marriage together.
Ed was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. His family always had a good laugh when people found out that Ed was a cheerleader in high school. Over the years, he worked as a Manager/Loan Officer for M&T Bank (Keystone), Northwest Savings Bank, Fulton Bank, and First National Bank of PA. While working in the bank, he also took a second job at Sears, where he remained for over 15 years. After leaving the banking industry completely in 2012, he worked at A&A Auto Parts and Napa Auto Parts in Bellefonte, until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his daughter, Ciara Semack (Myron) of Bellefonte, a granddaughter, Trinity Semack, and his beloved cats, Princess, Scaredy Cat, and Jumper. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Witherite, Jr. (Hilda) of Bellefonte, and two sisters, Kathy Witherite of Hublersburg, and LeeAnn Kuhn (Dan) of Burton, West Virginia.
Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Dora Bubb, as well as Reuben and Loretta Witherite.
Ed was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a past member of the American Legion Post #867 in Pleasant Gap, a past Exalted Ruler of the Bellefonte Elks Lodge # 1094, and a past board member at Timberland Federal Credit Union in Pleasant Gap. He loved vintage cars and adored his collection that he acquired over the years.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 10, 2023, 10 AM until 12 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Hublersburg Cemetery.
