Obituary for Elaine Ludington Houtz
Elaine Ludington Houtz, 89, of State College died Monday, March 7, 2022, at Wynwood House in Boalsburg, Pa.
Born February 26, 1933, near Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, she was the eldest of four daughters of the late Guy A. and Ruth F. (Gitchell) Ludington.
She married Budd H. Houtz of Pleasant Gap in 1956, who preceded her in death in 2001. Elaine worked as a customer service representative for the local Boalsburg branch of [then] Omega Bank for over 30 years and was then employed with AAA (American Automobile Association) for five years.
A former secretary of the Boalsburg Area Senior Citizens, she was an active woman throughout her life who enjoyed filling her spare time with gardening, bowling, crocheting, crafts, crosswords, and puzzles.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Patricia E. Ludington, and Karen J. Meyers.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Margaret (Peg) L. Kohnke of Montrose, PA, three children, Darlene M. Kolesar of Boalsburg, PA, David W. Houtz of State College, PA, and Wayne A. Houtz of Bellefonte, PA, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Service and burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Boalsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
