Obituary for Evon T. Boldin

Evon T. Boldin, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. Born on May 24, 1932, in Bellefonte, he was the eldest of eight children of the late Evon John and Lucy (Plozner) Boldin, who both passed away in 1939. On June 30, 1951, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, he married his beloved wife, Lillian Marie (Walker) Boldin, who preceded him in death on May 8, 2018, after sharing nearly 67 years of marriage together.

Evon attended St. John’s Catholic School and was a 1951 graduate of Bellefonte High School. During his youth, he worked on the Beezer Farm and National Gype. He was a lifetime farmer, until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, he worked for Nevin Property Management until 2013.

He is survived by two children, Mary Jo Boldin (Sally), and Deacon Thomas Boldin (Shirley), all of Bellefonte; five grandchildren, Amy Brandt (Randy), Ben Boldin (Kara), Kelly Jo Smay (Doug), Neil Fletcher (Kristen), and Sam Fletcher (Jenny), and 14 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Emily, Abby, Sophia, Bradly, Hayley, Brandon, Hayden, Holden, Brianna, Reese, Sydney, Anna, and Luke. Also surviving are three sisters, Kathrine Grubb, Rose Leacock, and Nancy Muthersbaugh.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, Lillian, and parents, Evon John and Lucy Boldin, he was predeceased by one son, Timothy Daniel Boldin on October 17, 1985, one grandson, Paul Thomas Boldin, one great grandson, Timothy Smay, his brothers, Vincent, Joseph, Rudy, and a sister, Lucy Gearhart.

Evon was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a member of the Logan Grange, and the Centre County Ag Form.

There will be a public viewing held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 10-11:45 a.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, with Father Brian Saylor officiating, assisted by Deacon Thomas Boldin. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Adult Transitional Care, Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, and 365 Hospice for their excellent compassion and care that they provided to Evon.
