Gerard Martin “Jerry” Powell, 65, of State College, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 14, 1958, in Scranton, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph Alton and Margaret (Gilpin) Powell. On August 24, 1991, he married Sharon K. Powell, who survives in State College.
Jerry was a 1976 graduate of Roxbury Highschool in Succasunna NJ and graduated from Duquesne University in 1984 with a degree in Pharmacy. Jerry was a lifelong pharmacist and was currently employed at CVS as a traveling pharmacist. He was an excellent cook and his specialty dishes included steak on the grill and seafood. He loved to go fishing and camping, and was a lover of all music, especially Rolling Stones. Jerry did the best imitation of Mick Jaggar you’d ever see! Above all he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids who affectionally called him Pop-Pop Jerry.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by two children, Ashleigh E. Powell of Sharon, PA and Dylan J. Powell (Rebecca) of Pittsburgh, PA and his first wife and mother of his children, Laura Carnuche. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mariska and Ava Kiraly, and his special friends, Dwight and Joyce Pancottine of Naperville, IL, and George Fleck of Port Matilda.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph Powell.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., and Victorian Crematory Bellefonte.
