Obituary for Gladys M. Roberts
Gladys M. Roberts, 87, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on September 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Louise (Knisely) Owens. On August 25, 1962, she married her beloved husband, John L. Roberts, who survives her at home after sharing 60 years of marriage together.
Gladys was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years for several local doctors offices and at Centre Community Hospital.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by their two children, Linda Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee, and Joe Roberts (Jennifer) of New Market, Maryland; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn, and Benjamin Roberts. Also surviving is a sister, Sally Moyer (Wayne) of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, and nephews: Dan, Chris, and Tom Moyer.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Joy Owens.
Gladys was a member of Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte. She enjoyed cooking, baking, music, reading, and sitting on the porch with family and friends. She especially loved when she was able to travel with family, most notably her trips to Williamsburg, Virginia, Hawaii, Europe, and throughout the western United States. More than anything, she loved being with her family. She leaves her loved ones with countless memories that will forever be cherished.
There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1 P.M., at the funeral home, with Pastor Diane Kinley officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gladys to Saint John’s United Church of Christ, 145 West Linn Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
