Obituary for Gloria L. Thompson

Gloria L. Thompson, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on December 11, 1932 in Lamar, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Margaret (Fleisher) Barner. On July 8, 1950 she married her beloved husband, Richard H. Thompson, who preceded her in death on October 27, 2018, after sharing over 67 years of marriage together.

Gloria attended Lock Haven High School. She worked as a cashier for CVS for several years until her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Thompson of Bellefonte, and Jennifer Day of Milesburg, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Jean Strouse, and a brother, Dale Barner.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Witmer, two sisters, Betty Weaver and Elma Berens, and one brother, Donald.

Gloria was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. She enjoyed quilting and gardening around her home. More than anything, she loved spending time and making memories with her family. Her grandchildren always brought a smile to her face.

There will be a public viewing held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 9-10am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 10am with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
