Helen L. Steele, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Born on July 9, 1934, in Julian, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Clare (Young) Dillon. In 1952, she married her beloved husband, Christian Steele, who survives at home after sharing 70 years of marriage together.

Helen was a 1953 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked at Bosco restaurant before taking a position at Penn State. She worked in the food service department at the university for 28 years until her retirement in 2005.

In addition to her husband, Christian, she is survived by their three children, Debra (husband, Roger), Phil (Linda), and Allen (wife, Angela), three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Also surviving is a sister, Marjorie Hampson of San Antonio, Texas.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lou Weaver, and her husband, Fred, and another brother-in-law, Leonard Hampson.

Helen was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, and the TUMC Win One Class.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
