Obituary for James L. Moyer Sr.
James L. Moyer, Sr., 90, of Julian, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Born on October 9, 1932, in Bellefonte on the family farm, he was the son of the late Ralph W. and Mary (Holderman) Moyer. He was married to Janice A. Moyer, who preceded him in death on February 5, 2017.
James was self employed throughout the years in the construction business doing various jobs until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Scafedi (Michael) of Greensburg, and two sons, James “Jim” Moyer, Jr. (Tammy) and Mike Moyer (Deb), both of Port Matilda, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Rote.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Sherman, Helen, John, Russ, and Ralph.
James was the jack of all trades; he could fix anything! He enjoyed his vegetable and flower garden, gambling at the casinos, vacationing with family, and camping, especially at Cooks Forest. He could often be found at Black Moshannon working and cutting firewood. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature.
James will be laid to rest with his wife, Janice, at Meyer Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., in Bellefonte.
