Jane F. Beard, 76, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Born on August 5, 1946, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Francis Charles Grugan and Margaret (Harrington) Spoljeric. On June 28, 1975, she married the love of her life, Jeffrey Beard, who survives at home after sharing over 47 years of marriage together. Her support, guidance and patience over the years was the key to his success.
Jane was a 1964 graduate of William Penn High School. After school, she began working at Rockview, where she met her husband. She decided to leave work after 8 years to raise their three children and take care of their home. After her children were older, she accepted a position at Penn State Harrisburg downtown for about two years. Upon leaving Penn State, she turned her focus to realty and worked as a realtor for Anderson, who was later bought out by Jack Gaughen. Her career spanned almost 20 years before her retirement in 2010.
In addition to her husband, Jeff, she is survived by their three children, Lisa Goldman of Houtzdale, Joshua Beard, and Carrie Renninger, both of Bellefonte. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Evan McClure, Josiah McClure, Rebekah Tekely, Holden Renninger, Waylon Renninger, Weston Renninger, and Elias Renninger, and four great grandchildren, Lily Tekely, Hannah Tekely, David McClure, and Raquel McClure.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Patty Whitenight.
Jane’s warm, pleasant personality was a big part of her success as a realtor and endeared her with her friends and family. She enjoyed travel with her husband and tolerated the plane rides to do so. The biggest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 12 – 1 P.M., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1 P.M., at the funeral home, with Pastor Fred Bigelow officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
