Obituary for Jane F. Bodle
Jane F. Bodle, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Eagle Valley Personal Home Care in Milesburg. Born on September 23, 1937, in Alhambra, California, she was the daughter of the late Robert Grant and Aline Agnes (Goss) Leamer. On October 27, 1956, in San Gabriel, California, she married the love of her life, Donald S. Bodle, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2019, after sharing 62 years of marriage together.
Jane was a 1955 graduate of Alhambra High School. She worked for herself as a seamstress for many years until her retirement. She also previously worked at Danks in the Nittany Mall and as a cafeteria aid at Bellefonte Elementary School. Jane enjoyed her daily trips to the Weis store to socialize. She was past President of Bellefonte Women’s Club.
She is survived by one son, Christopher Bodle (Staci), of Pleasant Gap; daughter-in-law, Melody Heckman Bodle of Bellefonte, four grandchildren, Jonathan Bodle, Brittany Walk, Clint Bodle, and Mikala Summerhayes; eight great-grandchildren, Madison Bodle, Cody Bodle, Dallas Walk, and Lilian Summerhayes, Emmett Bodle, Ella Summerhayes, Piper Walk, and Adeline Summerhayes. Also surviving is a nephew, David Leamer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Mike Bodle, on May 31, 2018; a grandson, Grant Bodle, on November 13, 1997, and a brother, Robert Grant Leamer, II, 2012.
Jane enjoyed baking, canning, and sewing. She looked forward to her trips back to California to visit with her mother. She especially loved talking to people and getting all of the latest good gossip!
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jane to the Grant Michael Bodle Memorial Scholarship Fund with checks made payable to the Bellefonte Education Foundation (Memo – Grant Michael Bodle Memorial Scholarship), and mailed to 318 N. Allegheny Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
