Obituary for Jason E. Mitchell

Jason E. Mitchell, 54, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Born on September 9, 1968, in Bellefonte, he was the son of Virginia Kaye (Fishburn) Maddox, who survives him at home.

Jason was a 1987 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He was a talented auto mechanic and worked at numerous local shops over his 22-year career, until his retirement in 2015.

In addition to his mother, Virginia, he is survived by his daughter, Megan Lynn (Mitchell) Henry, and two grandchildren, Hunter, and Dakota Henry, all of Aaronsburg. Also surviving three brothers, Jared Mitchell (Barb) of Clarence, Joel Mitchell, and Justin Maddox (Anne), both of Bellefonte, and a sister, Susan, and stepmothers, Cindy Mitchell, and Linda Bair, both of Bellefonte.

He was predeceased by his beloved stepfather, William E. Maddox, Jr.

Jason made sure that he always had a project vehicle to work on and was a Chevrolet enthusiast. He enjoyed being alone for the most part at his house on the hill. He liked to watch sports, play video games, and loved rock music – and he played it loud! If an opportunity presented itself to use a chainsaw, he took it! He enjoyed his pet ducks. He would always say that his greatest contribution to the world was his daughter, Megan. Although he was introverted, he treasured the time that he was able to spend with Megan and his grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 10-11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be led by his uncle, Robert Fishburn, beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., PO Box 7, Bellefonte, PA 16823, to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
