Obituary for John "Jack" K. Weaver

John (Jack) K. Weaver, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 2, 2023, after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on September 6, 1944, in Lock Haven, PA, Jack grew up in Renovo with his adopted parents, William and Helen (Bitner) Weaver. He served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965 then joined the PA Game Commission where he worked primarily as a Game Protector. Jack retired in 2000, after 33 years of service. He loved to write and published two books related to the Game Commission: a short-story autobiography recounting his adventures as a Warden, and a historical novel regarding the first murder of a Game Warden in PA. Jack was passionate about his faith, serving as a preacher at the Assembly of God Church near Mifflintown, and as a Chaplain with the Christian Motorcycle Association Group #373, Mended Wings, in State College. Jack shared his love of life through various hobbies; he was a skilled artist, flutist, antique collector, and held a 3rd-degree Black Belt in Tan Soo Do. He also enjoyed time in the woods, whether camping, fishing, or hunting.

Jack’s parents, and his brother, Robert Weaver, preceded him in death. He left behind his wife of 40 years, Caroline Weaver, four children, two stepchildren, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

We warmly invite friends and acquaintances from Jack’s life to join us at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm for a visitation with the family, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony.

Please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org), or the PA Game Commission’s Conservation Heritage Museum (pawco.org) in his memory.
