Obituary for Joyce Lucille Holderman (Lose)

Joyce Lucille (Lose) Holderman, 88, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Eagle Valley Personal Care in Milesburg. Born on June 16, 1933, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Clair Millford and Gussie Belle (Evey) Lose. She was married to Charles Elwood Holderman who passed away on October 2, 1999.

Joyce was born and raised in Valley View, where she was married and raised her family of five children. She worked for a short time at Hanover Cannery in Centre Hall until she left to start a family and raise her children. She worked for Penn State University in the housing and food departments. She then became a head cook until she retired after 25 years of service.

Joyce was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful Mother, who was loved, cherished, and we will miss her presence as the anchor of the family. She was a phenomenal cook and baker, and she made all our holiday and family gatherings memorable. Joyce not only enjoyed cooking and baking, but also reading her novels and crocheting beautiful afghans. She loved the time she got to spend with her grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her children: Charles Holderman (Nga) of California, Terry Holderman of Bellefonte, Brenda Lachman (James) of Harrisburg, Susan Holderman of Bellefonte, and James Holderman (Debbie) of Delaware. Also, surviving are four grandchildren: Nathanial Lachman, Michael Lachman (Ashley), Kaitlin Lachman and Travis Holderman, three great grandchildren: Emory, August James, Nicholas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Winifred Ebling, Mona Brachbill, Elaine Cain, Edmond, Max and Nevin Lose.

There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 10:00am until 11:00am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11am, with Pastor Terry Daughtery officiating. Burial will follow at Meyer Cemetery, Bellefonte.
