Obituary for Karen Anita Conaway
Karen Anita Conaway, 63, of McElhattan, passed away at home on Friday, June 16, 2023. Born on August 17, 1959, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Norman W. and Betty E. (Hollobaugh) Dawson.
Karen was a 1977 graduate of State College High School. In the 1990s, she attended and graduated from Empire Beauty School. She worked as a convenience store manager for many years with Unimart.
She is survived by her son, Steven Lee Kitchen, Jr., and his wife, Amy, of Mill Hall, and three grandchildren, Bryce Allen Synder of Lock Haven, Haley Marie Kitchen of Trout Run, and Michael William Kitchen of Lock Haven. Also surviving is a sister, Kimberly Anne Dawson of State College, and brother, Kreg Adam Dawson, who resided in McElhattan with Karen.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her boyfriend, Robert Allen Synder.
Karen enjoyed watching cooking, crime, and paranormal shows on television. More than anything, she loved her family, and she left countless treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones for years to come.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
