Kathleen M. “Kathy” Carey, 74, of Bellefonte, PA, passed away on January 21, 2022, in the compassionate care of the ICU team at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. She was born in November 1947 in DuBois, PA to the late William and Ella Wilt and was the eldest of their three daughters.
Kathy graduated from DuBois Central Catholic High School and attended Alleghany General Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her entire career in the medical profession, spending more than 30 years working as part of an ICU team with Centre Community Hospital / Mt. Nittany Medical Center. During those years she made family out of those she worked with, and absolutely loved keeping in touch with them and hearing about their families as well.
Kathy loved nothing more than her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons. She attended every Little League game her sons and grandsons played in and was a regular at the Bellefonte Little League games even after the kids had grown up and moved on. Kathy also enjoyed visiting Disney’s Magic Kingdom with her family. She was an avid reader and could usually be found in a favorite chair with a book or watching classic movies when at home. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, PA, and a proud supporter of the St. John’s Catholic School.
Kathy was spunky and had a quick wit, which she imparted to all three of her sons. She is survived by her son James and his wife Elizabeth of High Point, NC; son Bill, his wife Lynn, and their two sons Shaun and Liam of Bellefonte, PA; son Chris and his wife Lacey of Blue Ridge, VA; her sisters Patty Anderson of Freehold, NJ and Nancy (Dennis) Clifford of Oil City, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews. She leaves behind her long-time sweetheart, Harold Woodruff of State College.
