Obituary for Laura Blanche Raymond (Englert)

L. Blanche (Englert) Raymond, 95, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on June 13, 1927, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Laura Englert Allen and stepdaughter of the late Clark Allen. On June 23, 1962, she married her beloved husband, Frederick J. Raymond, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bellefonte, who preceded her in death on February 5, 2018, after sharing over 55 years of marriage together.

Blanche was a 1945 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She was employed by the former Sylvania Electric Products Company in Mill Hall for 16 years. She was also employed by HRB-Singer (now Raytheon), in State College, until she retired in 1989.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Allen, of Lock Haven, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary J. Baird, brothers, Frederick, John, and Thomas Allen, and sisters, Agnes Lucas, and Hazel Stevenson.

She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bellefonte and was a past Directress and member of the Altar Guild for many years. Additionally, she was a member of the Art Museum of Centre County and the Bellefonte Business and Professional Women’s Club and served as president and was twice named Woman of the Year.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 120 W. Lamb Street, Bellefonte, with the Reverend Carlos de la Torre officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Columbarium at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
