Mary Elizabeth Lenker Moss, 98, of Bellefonte went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Centre Care Nursing Home. Born on October 15, 1923, in Milton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Matilda (Kerr) Lenker. On June 5, 1950, she married James Moss, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1984.
Mary graduated from Bellefonte High School in June of 1941. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. Mary loved oil painting so much so, she took evening classes at The Pennsylvania State University. She loved playing the piano and did so for over 86 years. Mary also loved writing and fixing up her home. She wrote many unpublished novels and short stories. Mary loved the outdoors, picnics, and camping. She climbed local mountains with her father and brother in her younger years.
She is survived by her daughter: Cheryl (Tom) Sharpe of Bellefonte, her grandchildren: Susan (Doug) Bates of Poplar Branch, NC., David Sharpe of State College, and great grandchild: Elliott Bates.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Lee Russell Lenker, Lester Lenker, Robert Lenker; sisters: Pauline Henry, Helen Boldin, and grandson: Thomas J. Sharpe, Jr. She was the last of her generation.
There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 10-11am, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Yates officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
