Obituary for Maxine M. Knapik

Maxine M. Knapik, 91, of Pleasant Gap, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met.

She was born February 1, 1932, in Bellefonte, PA, the daughter of the late Robert A. Murray, Sr. and Clara K. (Kling) Murray.

Maxine graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in the secretarial program and was an excellent, hardworking administrative assistant her whole career.

She is survived by her husband, Philip J. Knapik; her three children: Brenda M. Knapik Naylor (Mark) of State College, PA; Andrea A. Knapik Musser (Duane) of Boalsburg, PA; and Robert P. Knapik (Christine) of PA Furnace, PA; eight grandchildren: Andrew Knapik (Adrian) of Crofton, MD; Adam Knapik of Reston Station, VA; Alexis Buckley (Patrick) of Bellefonte, PA; Ryan Musser (fiancé, Kawale) of Guatemala; Brianna Clark (Brenton) of Chambersburg, PA; Derek Musser (Grace) of Somerville, MA; Danielle Suomela of Williamsport, PA; and Megan Suomela of State College, PA. She was affectionately known as “GG” to seven great grandchildren: Leon, Cyrus, Deborah and Micah Clark, Kevin and Connor Buckley, and Willow Knapik. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed a life-long friendship with Clara Rimmey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert A. Murray, Jr. and Kermit Murrary and her eldest daughter Deborah A. Knapik Saylor on February 12, 1999.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
