Obituary for Maxine A. Rockey
Maxine A. Rockey, 90, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Celebration Villa of Reedsville. Born on March 25, 1933, in Wingate, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Estright) Cowan. On January 9, 1955, she married her beloved husband, Donald E. Rockey, Sr., who survives at home after sharing 68 years of marriage together.
Maxine was a 1951 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She went on to work for Bell Telephone for over 38 years until her retirement in 1989.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by their son, Donald E. Rockey, Jr. (Sharon) of Pleasant Gap, granddaughter, Holly A. Byers (Brandon) of San Tan Valley, Arizona, grandson, Donald E. Rockey, III, of Mesa, Arizona, and great grandchildren, Gayte Fetters, Jonas Fetters, Alexia Rockey, and Nathaniel Rockey.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
Maxine enjoyed camping and painting. She also looked forward to going to the Grange Fair each year.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
