Obituary for Michael "Mike" A. McClenahan

Michael A. “Mike” McClenahan, 73, of Bellefonte, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Born on May 5, 1949, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late William and Evelyn (Shivery) McClenahan.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of Penns Valley High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 1975 until he was honorably discharged. During his time in service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Badge, Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. After his time in the military, he held many job titles throughout the years, working as a greenskeeper at the Centre Hills Country Club for many years; he truly was a “jack of all trades.”

He is survived by his daughter, Angela McClenahan (Todd) of Howard, his son, David McClenahan (Melissa) of Valley View, his two brothers, Robin McClenahan (Elizabeth) of Spring Mills, and Patric McClenahan (Deb) of Centre Hall, and five grandchildren, AJ and Ashton Robinson, Zakkary, Jade, and Gage McClenahan. Also surviving is his former spouse, Audrey Nordlund, who remained a very close friend, even after their separation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca McClenahan.

Mike was a lifetime member of the Undines Fire Company, American Legion Post 33 in Bellefonte, the Bellefonte Moose Lodge #206, and the VFW Post #1600 in Bellefonte. He loved being outdoors, whether he was playing golf, hunting, fishing, or just feeding the animals – sometimes even from his hand, he was in his happy place! Mike was also an avid Penn State sports fan. His friends and family would often see him driving around with a cardboard cutout of Joe Paterno in the passenger seat. We are certain that Mike is taking daily trips around his new Heavenly home with Joe Pa right now!

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. of Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., PO Box 7, Bellefonte, PA 16823, to help the family with the funeral expenses.
