Obituary for Michael G. Witcraft

Michael G. Witcraft, 74, of Bellefonte, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Centre Care. Born on July 23, 1948, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Philip and Helen (Tanner) Witcraft.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He earned his certificate from Centre County Vocational-Technical School, after completing several photography classes. He went on to work for Chemcut for six years, and at Centre Film Laboratory for three years. Most recently, he worked in the food service industry at Eat’n Park for 15 years, until his retirement in 2013.

He is survived by his one sister, Elizabeth Witcraft Marcos, and her husband Horacio, of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, his three nephews, Anthony, Ricardo, and Paul, and a niece, Caroline.

Mike was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. He loved photography, going to see movies with his dear friend, Rose McKean, and was an avid train enthusiast. He was frequently enlisted to be the photographer for work events at Chemcut and did photographic work for the Curtin Foundation with respect to the Eagle Iron furnace restoration.

There will be a public viewing held on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 10-11am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte. Funeral mass will begin at 11am, at the church, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

The family would like to thank, and is eternally grateful to, the numerous members of the Bellefonte and State College communities who have shown kindness, generosity, and caring toward Mike for many years. Everywhere Mike went, people knew him, and made him feel supported and loved.
