Obituary for Nancy Derstine Kelley

Nancy Derstine Kelley, 90, a lifelong Bellefonte resident, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home. Born on January 21, 1933, in Bellefonte, she was the only child of the late Lynn James Derstine and Aline (Fisher) Derstine. She was married to her beloved husband, Pat Kelley, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2009, after sharing 55 years of marriage together.

Nancy attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1951. She completed her training to be a registered nurse at Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1954. She went on to complete additional nursing courses to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in 1976. She spent her entire 42-year nursing career at Center Community Hospital.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Kelley, Jr. of Bellefonte, and daughter, Kathleen Kelley-Acker of Lancaster, four grandchildren, Heather Vigeant (Fred) of Carlisle, Megan Campomizzi (Paul) of Pleasant Gap, Sara Kelley of Bellefonte, and Kylee Acker of Philadelphia, and three great grandchildren, Freddie and Hazel Vigeant, and Aurora Campomizzi.

Nancy was a lifelong member of St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. A loving mother and a doting grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves her family with endless memories that they will forever cherish.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 10-11 A.M., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 A.M., at the church, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Valley for their kind and attentive care. They want to especially thank Danielle Shingara, Nancy's caregiver for four years, for her professionalism, compassion, kindness, and friendship. Nancy considered her a part of her family.
