Obituary for Nancy K. Krape
Nancy K. Krape, 89, of Bellefonte, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on April 12, 1933, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Emmaline (Sholl) Kustanbauter. On August 1, 1953, she married her beloved husband, Lowell T. Krape, who preceded her in death December 20, 2021, after sharing 68 years of marriage together.
Nancy was a 1951 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. After graduating she worked for Bell Telephone for several years before leaving to start a family and raise her children. She then returned to Bell Telephone where she worked for over 30 years until her retirement in 1991.
She is survived by her three children, Thomas A. Krape, Curtis L. Krape and Karen A. Brooks, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is her corgi, the most well-fed dog in Walker Township, Fergi.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Clark David Brooks, and her siblings, Charles, Edgar, Thomas and Orvis Kustanbauter, Margaret Jamison, and Sara Hoy.
She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church of Hublersburg, Order of the Eastern Star and the Telephone Pioneers, a group of retirees from Bell Telephone.
Nancy enjoyed working in the vegetable and herb garden alongside her husband. She and Lowell would make their famous clear toy candy, and she'll be remembered fondly for her baked goods and delicious homemade jellies and jams - she and Lowell found joy in being able to give so much to their family and friends throughout the years, including their canned vegetables, pies, candies, and jellies.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nancy to Centre County PAWS at 1401 Trout Road, State College PA 16801.
