Obituary for Patricia A. Ripka

Patricia A. Ripka, 79, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Born on July 17, 1942, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Steve Nichols, Sr. and Mary (Dean) Nichols Fry.

Patricia worked The Roma Lunch, a small diner that was loved by many locals for a number of years in Bellefonte. After leaving the diner, she went to work for Weis Market; Patricia loved talking to the people who would come in to shop. Following her employment with Weis Markets, she took a position at Supelco, where she remained for 26 years.

She is survived by her four children, Sandy Martz (Randy), James Ripka, Jr. (Judy), Walter Ripka (Rose), and Lucinda Gilbert (Allen), six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Albert Nichols, and a sister, Rose Hoover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Ripka, Sr., a brother, Steve Nichols, Jr., and a sister, Mary Johnstonbaugh.

Patricia enjoyed reading, especially her Bible. Her faith and love for Jesus was always an important part of her life. Her family and friends will remember her independent and self-reliant personality. She enjoyed sitting outside and watching nature and loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Charlie.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
