Obituary for Rachel H. (Robinson) Favuzza

Rachel H. (Robinson) Favuzza, 93, formerly of Fairview Drive, Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Juniper Village at Brookline in State College after several years of health issues. Born on July 14, 1929, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Isaac H. and Helen M. (Bailey) Robinson. On July 27, 1957, she married Attorney Joseph E. Favuzza, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2004, after sharing nearly 47 years of marriage together.

Rachel was a 1947 graduate of Clearfield High School and a 1951 graduate of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. She also received a master’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She worked as a mathematics teacher in the Bellefonte Area School District before stopping to raise a family of three children. She later substituted in various area school districts and worked for the Stanley H. Kaplan Company for several years. Additionally, she provided private tutoring to many students over the years.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Edward Favuzza of Bellefonte, and two daughters, Linda Ann Klein (Greg) of Rancho Mirage, CA, and Gloria Jane Favuzza of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren, Matthew James Klein and Madeline Rachel Klein. Also surviving are two nephews, John G. Robinson of Coronado, CA, and Steven B. Robinson of Fontana, CA, and numerous cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Rear Admiral Rembrandt C. Robinson and Dr. Raymond H. Robinson, and a sister, Marilyn A. Robinson.

Rachel was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. She had a love of music and for many years participated in several area choirs, including her church and the Pennsylvania State University’s summer chorus programs. She was active with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bellefonte Women’s Club, and assisted with Historic Bellefonte’s Victorian Christmas Homes Tour, in addition to many other groups and organizations.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 10-11 A.M., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11 A.M., at the funeral home, with David Bailey speaking. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
