Obituary for Rebecca A. Shultz

Rebecca A. Shultz, 69, of Bellefonte, passed away with her sister by her side, on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on February 15, 1952, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Earl F. and Barbara (Smith) Shultz.

Rebecca was a 1970 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked for the Centre County Government for 36 years until her department was furloughed and SAM offered her department positions within their company. She continued to work for SAM as a Fiscal Technician for five years until her retirement in 2020. She genuinely enjoyed her time working at SAM, and all the friendships that she was able to make.

She is survived by her sister and best friend, Terri Hughes, and her husband Richard, of Bellefonte, and her adored aunt and uncle, Jim and Mary Reid, of New York. Also surviving are many very special cousins.

Rebecca enjoyed going to the casino, and always looked forward to her trips to Maryland with her sister, when they would go to the Rocky Gap Casino. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. Watching and shopping from QVC was a favorite also. She previously owned a small local business called “Rebecca’s” in downtown Bellefonte.

Friends will be received on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 10:30 – 11 A.M., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 A.M., at the funeral home, with David Dimmick officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Eagle Cemetery in Milesburg.
