Obituary for Richard "Rock" Joseph Ray
Richard “Rock” Joseph Ray, 80, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on June 5, 1943, he was the son of the late Samuel and Louise (Worrick) Ray.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He worked at Cerro Copper and Brass for over 30 years until his retirement.
He is survived by a son, Farrand Ray, and his wife Allie, of State College, and grandson, Colton Ray. Also surviving is a sister, Deborah McAtee, and her husband Michael of Bellefonte.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Donna Musser, and a brother, Samuel Ray.
Rock was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a member of the Bellefonte Moose Lodge #206 and the Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his friends. Rock was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, as well as Penn State football and wrestling. He also enjoyed following high school wrestling.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Deacon Thomas Boldin officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte.
