Obituary for Robert "Bob" G. Benner

Robert “Bob” G. Benner, 70, of Bellefonte, passed away at his camp, surrounded by his family and friends, on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Born on April 1, 1953, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Hazel M. (Houser) Benner. He has shared the last 34 years with his soulmate, Bridget Genua, who survives him at home.

Bob was a 1971 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He worked for the family business, B&S Sheet Metal, and took over as the owner/operator after his father’s retirement.

In addition to his longtime partner, Bridget, he is survived by his three children, Rodney Benner (Susan) of Zion, David Benner (Laurinda) of Zion, and Sara Benner (Clay) of Howard, and three grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, and Lauren. Also surviving is his faithful canine companion, Bo the Black Lab, and his adored and very spoiled grandpuppies, Ace, Brew, and Harper.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Mark Benner, and his brothers, Randy, and Doug Benner.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed doing anything that allowed him to be outside. He looked forward to going hunting and loved going out to his camp, the “Coffee Pot Camp.” A hard worker, he could almost always be found at the shop, but on Fridays everyone knew that B&S would be closed, and Bob would be at camp! Whether he was going for a mountain ride or just sitting outside at his house, he enjoyed the simple things in life. His family and friends will not only remember his work ethic, but his outlook on life and living and appreciating every day. He leaves behind countless memories that they will forever cherish.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
