Obituary for Robert B. Nellis

Robert B. Nellis, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on April 15, 1929 in Emporium, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Clara (Sapp) Nellis.

On May 12, 1951 he married his beloved wife, Dolores Martin Nellis, who survives him. They met in Junior High School and shared 69 years of marriage together.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Susan Jackson of Bellefonte, Beth Shutika of Bellefonte and Amy Nellis, partner David Litke, of Bellefonte. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren Fisher, husband Paul Fisher, of Howard, and Ethan Shutika, wife Jessica Shutika, of Yeagertown. He has one great grandson, Waylon Fisher.

Robert was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Building and Code Inspector for the Centre County Government.

He loved to make stained glass windows. His work is in many homes and some businesses for people to enjoy for years to come. Robert stayed busy and enjoyed making many things including, quilts, whistles, jewelry, furniture, especially bookshelves, and even small animals from the pit of a peach! He was very proud of the items that he made and loved giving them to different people.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Robert was a kind, sweet, and loving man. He loved his family more than anything. He lived life to the fullest and was well loved by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
