Roger Lewis Stamm Sr., 74, of State College, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Roger was born on September 27, 1948, to Paul W. and R. Marie (Gill) Stamm in Bellefonte. He was raised in a large family with two sisters, five brothers, and innumerable family values. He went on to join the United States Army but was discharged to return home to continue the family values and care for his parents and siblings.
After his return home, he worked with his father doing drywall and painting. At one point, he switched careers and began to work at ChemCut doing machinery work. He later began his own business at Stamm’s Drywall & Painting, kickstarting a long self-employed career with his brother and best friend Mickey doing what they loved.
In 1968, Roger met his soulmate Madeline. Roger and Madeline went on to have four children: Joyce, Kathy, Sheila, and Roger Jr. Roger’s legacy lives on through his 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Although he never retired, Roger enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, watching Gunsmoke, M.A.S.H., and the Outdoor Channel, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roger would be described as a hard-working family man, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He had a heart of gold and always provided for his extended family. He was a father figure to more than just his four children. He was incredibly patient and was always willing to teach where he could. He didn’t fault someone for their mistakes, but instead, he loved them through their mistakes. He was a role model to many, and his unexpected absence is strongly felt.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Paul W. and R. Marie (Gill) Stamm, His brothers, Thomas D. Stamm, David Stamm, Larry L. Stamm and his sisters, Gail E. (Stamm) Rearick and Connie R. Stamm. He is survived by his wife, Madeline C. (Rearick) Stamm. His four children, Joyce Stamm, Kathy Stamm, Sheila (Stamm) Weaver and James Weaver, Roger L Stamm, Jr and Mandi (Mauk) Stamm. His grandchildren, Ashley (Myers) Curley and Randy Curley, Aiden and Taylor (Noecker) Myers, Roger L. Stamm III and Sierra Plotner, Terry Stamm and Chelsea (Cole) Stamm, Jacob Vroman, Paul Parks, III, Madison Stamm, and Blake Stamm. His great-grandchildren, Bradlie Curley, McKenna Curley, Terin Curley, AceLynn Myers, Tyree Myers, McKenzie Miller-Myers, and Jasper Stamm. Also, his brothers, Paul E. Stamm and Mickey R. Stamm.
To his grandsons, Terry and Jake, Pap understands you were unable to be present to pay their respects due to their military obligations. He would like for them to remember, they need to finish what they’ve started.
It would be remiss to not thank the staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center for their care and kindness with Roger and his family. It is also with a heartfelt gratitude that we express to our extended family, the Schreyers, we thank you for your unconditional love and support.
Services will not be held, as Roger did not want a funeral. In lieu of these services, a celebration of life will be planned at a later date and details will be disbursed as necessary.
To honor Roger, we feel he would want you all to carry his light by always giving endless unconditional love and patience, and always have a grateful heart even when you have nothing.
