Shirley L. Taylor, 77, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Friday, March 11, 2022. Born on September 27, 1944, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Alvin and Virginia Louise (Baney) Snook. She was married to her beloved husband, Lawrence E. Taylor, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1991.
Shirley was a 1962 graduate of Bellefonte High School and went on to graduate from South Hills School of Business & Technology. She worked at Cerro Metal as the President for over 20 years until her retirement in 1996.
She is survived by her three children, George E. Gehret, III (Cora) of Millheim, Shaun A. Gehret, Sr. of Centre Hall, and Kimberly Herman of Howard, eight grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are seven siblings, Patricia Roan, Gloria Stine (Doug), Barbara Decker, Linda Spangler (George), Jenny Karlesses, Larry Snook, all of Bellefonte, and Faith Workman (William) of Zion.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Baranak, and Joan Leemaster-Barton, and five brothers, Leonard, James, Jack, Gary, and Joe.
Shirley enjoyed crafts and tending to her plants. More than anything, she treasured the time that she was able to spend with her family.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
