Obituary for Shirley E. Young
Shirley E. Young, 92, of Runville, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home. Born on February 25, 1930, in Catawissa, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Eyre) Shultz. In July 1949, she married her beloved husband, Ernest R. Young, who survives her at home after sharing over 73 years of marriage together.
Shirley attended Howard High School. She worked in manufacturing at Sylvania, and then as a health care aide at Centre Crest and various personal home health agencies.
In addition to her husband, Ernest, she is survived by their two children, Kathy Culp (Bill) of Milesburg, and Jerry Young (Eileen) of Unionville. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Jackie Roberts, Terri Klinefelter (Scott), Troy Craig (Kimberly), Heather Harter (Shawn), and Angela Bailey, 10 great grandchildren, Caleb Roberts, Blake Roberts, Grant King, Wyatt Klinefelter, Madyson Barker, Dakota Barker, Eban Harter, Damon Harter, Xavier Bailey, and Johnathen Bailey, and sisters-in-law, JoAnne Peace (Bob), and Mary Young.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her five siblings.
Shirley was a member of the Romola Bible Church in Howard. She loved spending time with her family and fellowship with the Lord. She also enjoyed macrame and baking.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 10 A.M. until noon, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at noon, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Livermore and Pastor Bob Maurer officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Romola Christian Cemetery in Howard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to Romola Bible Church, 2280 Marsh Creek Road, Howard, PA 16841.
