Obituary for Stephen T. Ivicic Sr.

Stephen Thomas Ivicic, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Friday, October 21, 2022. Born on November 8, 1939, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Matthew and Frances (Kucas) Ivicic. On July 18, 1959, he married his beloved wife, Mary Louise (McLaughlin) Ivicic, who survives him at home after sharing over 63 years of marriage together.

Steve attended St. John Catholic School and Bellefonte Area High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. After his time in the service, he worked as a painter and a drywall finisher for Local #409 for over 40 years until his retirement in 2003.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by their children, L. Susan Traxler (Tim), Stephen T. Ivicic, Jr. (Jill), and Erin C. Burke (Ed), all of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren: Joseph Traxler, Taryn Dougherty (Cullen), both of Boston, Mass., Diana Traxler, Thomas Traxler, Sarah Damian (Vlad), Emma Ohl (Zach), Stephen Ivicic, III, and Allison Ivicic, all of Bellefonte; and one great grandchild, Teagan Rose Dougherty, of Boston, Mass. Also surviving is a brother, Charles Ivicic (Joyce), of Bellefonte.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by six sisters, Vilma Anspauch, Caroline Ivicic, Anne Haranin, Pauline Miller, Barbara Thal, and Helen Boscaino, and three brothers, Joseph, Matthew, and Robert.

Steve was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was also a life member of the Undine Fire Company in Bellefonte. He was a true jack of all trades and could repair anything. He loved when he was able to go hunting and going to his secret spots to hunt morel mushrooms. Steve was an exceptional woodworker, making and giving away numerous walking sticks over the years. He was also famous for his hot peppers and homemade sauerkraut and loved to share them with his entire family and countless friends each year.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
