Wayne Earl Fetterolf, 64, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Hershey Medical Center. Born on April 9, 1959, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Stanley Fetterolf and Janet Fetterolf, who survives at home. He remained in Bellefonte for his entire life.
Wayne graduated in 1977 from Bellefonte High School, where he attended the Vocational Technical school studying cabinet making. After graduation, he worked in the area building and repairing houses before returning to work on the farm full-time. The farm was his life. Wayne loved every aspect of farming – from tending to the cows to working in the fields.
In addition to his mother, Janet, he is survived by his sister, Ellen Rimmey (Alan), and brothers, William Fetterolf, and Wade Fetterolf (Brandy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was a talented woodworker. He built gun cabinets, a hutch, and various other items around the house. He also helped build the bi-centennial Conestoga wagon that traveled through multiple states in celebration of the bi-centennial in 1976.
Wayne was a member of the St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Pleasant Gap Fire Company #1.
For this one farmer the worries are over, lie down and rest your head. Your time has been and struggles enough, put the tractor in the shed. Years were not easy, many downright hard, but your faith in God transcended, put away your tools and sleep in peace; the fences have all been mended. You worked the land well and always followed the Son, hang up your shovel inside of the barn; your work here on Earth is done. A faith few possess led your journey through life, often jagged and stony way, the sun is setting, the cattle are all bedded, and here now is the end of your day. Your labor is done, your home now is Heaven; no more must you wait, your legacy lives on, your love of the land, and we will close the gate.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Additionally, family and friends will be received on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at the funeral home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, with Ted Williams, VICAR, officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
