Wayne “Red” G. Deibler, 85, of Bellefonte, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on December 24, 1936, in Pleasant Gap, he was the son of the late George O. and Ruth A. (Bower) Deibler. On June 9, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Janice L. (Lee) Deibler, who survives at home after sharing over 65 years of marriage together.
Wayne was a 1954 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. In 1954, he enrolled in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and graduated in 1957 in carpentry. The experience that he gained while in school helped to launch him into a remarkably successful entrepreneurial career in both real estate and construction.
After graduating, he returned to his hometown area to work for Boalsburg Construction. In 1964, Red started his own residential and commercial building business, Deibler Construction, Inc. Deibler Construction played a significant role in the development of Continental Courts. Red went on to co-own and manage Continental Courts for 47 years. In 1995, he established Spring View Farms, with his daughter and son-in-law, to breed and raise Haflinger draft horses, showing them throughout the eastern United States. In 1998, Red partnered with his daughter and son to establish Deibler Machining.
In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by their four children: Judy Dutrow (Kenton), Treva Strouse (Allen), Douglas Deibler (Lisa), and Timothy Deibler (Bobbie), all of Bellefonte; eight grandchildren: Andrea Patterson (Jeromy) of Bellefonte, Megan Daubert of Bellefonte, Kendra Tomassacci (Brian) of Shickshinny, Matthew Deibler (Kacy) of Bellefonte, Morgan Nellis (Chaelim) of Boalsburg, Kendra Wood (Tyler) of Glen Mills, Corryn Deibler of Bellefonte, and Kierra Benner of Bellefonte; and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Richard Deibler (Genia) of Arlington, Virginia, and a sister, Mosla Boab (Patrick) of Niceville, Florida, and State College.
Red was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, where he also served as a Past Trustee. Additionally, he was a Charter Member and past President of the Pleasant Gap Lions Club, a Lifetime Member of the Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094 and the Pleasant Gap Fire Company, and a member of the Old Fort Lodge #537 in Centre Hall, Scottish Rite in Williamsport, Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He was an exceptional woodworker, and especially enjoyed making furniture for his children and grandchildren. Along with his wife, Janice, and their children, he loved to go antiquing, and would often add to his collection of PRR items, Lionel Trains, iron banks, and door stops.
