Obituary for William "Bill" Harold Styers
William “Bill” Harold Styers, 80, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on April 1, 1943, in Spring Mills, he was the son of the late Harold Ray and Lydia (Grassmyer) Styers. On July 3, 1971, at the Methodist Church in Howard, he married the love of his life, Jolene (Bitner) Styers, who survives at home after sharing over 52 years of marriage together.
Bill was a graduate of Line Mountain High School. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy for eight years. During his time in the service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Bill went on to work for Cerro Copper and Brass for over 32 years until he retired as a Foreman.
In addition to his wife, Jolene, he is survived by his siblings, Gerald Styers of Reedsville, Darlene Packer of Centre Hall, Sharon Showers of Centre Hall and Delores Kerlin of Jupiter, Florida, and his brother-in-law, Dennis Bitner of Howard.
Bill was a member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion Post #867. He was an avid fan of Penn State Wrestling and Football. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf with his wife.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Centre County PAWS at 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
