Joan Brooks Knoffsinger, 81, of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania, passed from this mortal life on July 9, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, Pennsylvania.

The last of eight children, Joan was born on October 23, 1936 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania to Jewett Starr and Mary Ellen (Burris) Brooks.

On December 28, 1957, Joan married Fred Evan Knoffsinger, who survives at home. The couple lived their entire married life of 61 years in Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by Brother-In-law Robert Lee Knoffsinger and his wife Marilyn Allen Knoffsinger, Sister-In-Laws Nancy Harter Knoffsinger, and Ruth Baumgardner Brooks. Many loving nieces and nephews from across the continental United States and Hawaii also survive.

Joan worked at Penn State University for over 35 years as an accounting clerk. She was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, The Pleasant Gap Women’s Club, The Logan Grange, and the Hummel Club. Joan collected Hummel Figurines for over 60 years and often traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to purchase the newest Hummel on the market. Joan was also a grower of African Violets, which she proudly displayed in the window of her home. She relished spending time with family and friends at the Grange Fair.

Funeral services and burial are private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
