Richard E. Wian, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born on March 29, 1929 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Earl L. and Ida Wion. On June 5, 1952, he married the love of his life, Anna Marie (Garety) Wian, who had just recently preceded him in death on December 13, 2020, after sharing over 68 years of marriage together.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1947 until he was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked for Cerro Copper and Brass for over 45 years until his retirement in 1994.

He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Baldwin (Jim), and Darlene Young (Denny Ripka), all of Bellefonte, two grandsons, Jeremy Muthersbaugh (Jenifer) and Jason Muthersbaugh, and six great granddaughters.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James Wion, Cyrus Wion, Elmer Wion, and Willis Wian, and five sisters, Emma Gardner, Anna Houser, Betty Davis, Thelma Guiser, and Janice Poorman.

Richard and Anna were lifelong members of Valley View United Methodist Church. Richard took great pride in his home and enjoyed gardening. He was an avid hunter and life time member of the NRA.

Dear Richard Wian family. I want you to know how much I liked your dad. I can hear his distinctive voice at this moment. I truly enjoyed seeing him in my office and greatly admired him as a person. I will always remember him as a gentle and very nice man. I am equally saddened for you by your loss of your mom. There is, however, something beautiful about soul mates being married for 68 years and passing on within 4 days of each other. Please accept my condolences.
